The call-to-action link we are providing is a powerful tool that offers significant benefits to our listeners and potential supporters. For hosts' understanding, the call-to-action link serves as an invitation for pet boarding facilities to join our network and for individuals to become pet fosters. For pet boarding facilities, joining our network means becoming part of a compassionate community that is dedicated to providing safe and loving temporary homes for pets of domestic violence survivors. By affiliating with Praline's Backyard Foundation, these facilities can actively contribute to breaking the barriers that survivors face when seeking safety for themselves and their beloved pets. Being a part of our network not only gives boarding facilities the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of survivors and their pets but also helps raise awareness about the critical issue of domestic violence. On the other hand, for individuals, becoming a pet foster through our call-to-action link offers a unique chance to play a crucial role in supporting survivors during their journey to rebuild their lives. By fostering a pet, individuals provide a loving and nurturing environment for these animals, allowing survivors to access resources and assistance without the fear of leaving their pets behind. Being a pet foster allows individuals to actively participate in the healing process of both the survivor and their furry companion, fostering a sense of empowerment and hope. Overall, the call-to-action link is a powerful means to engage listeners, as it gives them the opportunity to directly impact the lives of survivors and their pets. By clicking on the link, listeners can become part of a network that promotes safety, healing, and brighter futures for those affected by domestic violence. It adds value to the listener experience by providing a tangible way to contribute and support a cause that makes a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and their beloved pets.

Reconstruction Part Two
[00:00:00]
[00:00:33] Welcome back to the podcast. Thank you for being here. And last week we talked about reconstructing our faith. After trauma or abuse and we're going to continue to talk about that today. There's lots more tips that I have for you personal experiences and Hopefully this ability.
[00:00:58] Hopefully this will be helpful to you[00:01:00] and we're going to Skip any housekeeping things today. I don't really have anything to share with you
[00:01:07] Let's get into our show.
[00:01:10] We are gonna review, what is Reconstruction? You're starting at ground zero after leaving an abusive situation or trauma and you're trying to figure out What you believe. Is this a belief that my parents gave me? Is this faith my own faith? Was These belief systems that I had Were they my own choice, or did somebody make me adopt these things out of coercion?
[00:01:45] And I've shared my testimony many times, that I chose my faith. I was raised Catholic, but I, um, was led to the Lord by my Baptist cousins. [00:02:00] And it was presented to me, and I chose. To accept that, I believed it to be true. It is not the belief system of my parents or my siblings, but I sincerely chose it for myself.
[00:02:16] I was not coerced into it. And, and I still have that faith in the Lord through thick and thin, through trauma and trials. So that is one of the questions that you have to answer for yourself. You have to go back and think, okay, is this a belief of my parents or is it my belief? Is this the belief of my husband or is it my belief?
[00:02:38] Do I sincerely believe this to be true? Now, some of you that have been listening for a long time, you know my husband and I have some differing beliefs. I won't get into that, but I stand very firmly in my beliefs, my doctrines,

reconstruction
[00:00:00]
[00:00:33] Hello beautiful people, thank you for coming back to the podcast this week. We are talking about Reconstruction. What is that? Last week we talked about Deconstruction which was pretty much
[00:00:50] After your abuse you decide I'm not gonna have anything to do with God or Christians or church [00:01:00] prayer or the Bible In some form or fashion, you may still have some semblance of faith or belief or belief in God in general, but you don't know what to do in the aftermath of your abuse. We talked about a lot of different topics as to why people choose to not believe in God or not continue in their faith.
[00:01:28] We talked about sin, we talked about hell, women's issues, sucky churches, we talked about evolution and creationism, we talked about genocide, a few other topics that we went over, and you may not have agreed with me on those. That's okay. We are all on this journey together, and we all have to make our own decisions about what's right for us and our family before the Lord.
[00:01:58] So this week we're [00:02:00] going to do Reconstruction, which is simply, you're starting from zero. You have no idea what you believe,
[00:02:10] and you are searching for those answers. And it might take you a long time to search to find those answers. But
[00:02:19] As long as you're going forward, that's the important part. So, uh, one housekeeping thing before we get started on my list here is, remember the Stitcher platform. If you're listening on Stitcher, they are going to cease to exist at the end of August. So, Be sure to find another platform to listen on before that time, because they are not going to be playing any more podcasts.
[00:02:48] And as far as this podcast goes, I am on all of the major platforms, Apple Podcasts, Spotify,

Transript: Deconstruction Part Two
[00:00:00] Welcome to the Wounds of the Faithful podcast, brought to you by DSW Ministries. Your host is singer, songwriter, speaker, and domestic violence advocate, Diana Winkler. She is passionate about helping survivors in the church heal from domestic violence and abuse and trauma. This podcast is not a substitute for professional counseling or qualified medical help.
[00:00:26] Now, here is Diana.
[00:00:33]
[00:00:33] Diana: Welcome back folks to the Wounds of the Faithful podcast, we are continuing our study on deconstruction. Now, I'm not going to review any of it because It's a lot. It was a lot to go [00:01:00] through. I am going to just jump in to where we left off. Basically, deconstruction is when you've gone through trauma or abuse and you decide that you do not want to go to church anymore.
[00:01:20] Diana: You don't want to pray anymore. You don't want to read your Bible anymore. You don't want to be around Christians. You don't want anything to do with God or religion. And so we've been talking about that. I need you to listen to the first episode to continue on with this one, because you'll miss out on a lot of important things that we've talked about.
[00:01:46] Diana: And we're going to talk about some more stuff today. So I'm not going to get into any housekeeping for today. We're just going to jump right into our podcast. [00:02:00] Deconstruction. And then next week we're going to do reconstruction. How to build back up your faith after how to examine what you believe to reconstruct your faith and your belief system, probably a more healthy belief system than where you came from. So let's get on with the show. Let's jump in to our topic today.
[00:02:34] Diana: Where were we on my list? Okay,

Wednesday Aug 02, 2023

We're talking about deconstruction, what it is and why survivors choose to go down that road. We discuss many reasons that people give for abandoning their faith or turning their backs on God altogether. We'll be exploring in a non judgmental, compassionate way, so join me for an encouraging episode. This is Part One of a Two Part series.

Deconstruction Part One
[00:00:00]
[00:00:33] Diana: hello everybody! Summer time and the living is easy. Not so easy here in Arizona. You may have heard on the news about the extreme heat, and yes, Arizona is one of them for two weeks now. Now it does get to 119 every year, [00:01:00] sometimes 120. Probably the highest ever, let's see when I was in high school it was 122 degrees, and that has not been the highest record. If you go to Death Valley or Lake Havasu we've got they get into 130 degrees.
[00:01:25] Diana: Staying inside in the air conditioning, going to the neighbor's pool. And I have to get up very early in the morning to do the yard work. So, speaking of yard work, we have what's called in Arizona, monsoon season. That's pretty much our tropical storm season. And you don't think that Arizona has humidity?
[00:01:51] Diana: This is when we have humidity. Is during our tropical storm season. And we just had a [00:02:00] huge storm on Wednesday and looking out the window it was like watching a hurricane. I kid you not, it was raining, the wind was so strong I wasn't sure about my trees. The next morning we had a couple power outages but the power came on when I was getting ready for work.
[00:02:24] Diana: Thankfully. And we had a bent flagpole in our front yard. I think that was the worst that we had. A lot of stuff was all over the backyard. We had to pick up. But we got off easy.
[00:02:42] Diana: My neighbor who I go swimming with. Who has fed me during my hospitalization, recovery. Her entire east wall is gone. And she isn't the only one. There's [00:03:00] countless people along the main road here that lost their back wall that faces the street. And there's some retention ponds also that have huge eucalyptus ...

[00:00:33] Hey everybody, welcome back to the Wounds of the Faithful podcast. If we haven't met, my name is Diana and I am here to help you heal from domestic violence, abuse, and trauma. This is a safe place and we've been having some great guests lately. Amanda Blackwood last week, [00:01:00] she was amazing, wasn't she? What do you think of when you hear the words "human trafficking"? Far away Asian countries? Young women? Kid knapping by strangers? Amanda Blackwood is my guest this week to dispel all these incorrect assumptions and define what trafficking really is. She also tells her harrowing story of being trafficked multiple times by people she knew, including her fiancée. Not to worry though, after her escapes, she shares how she healed from such horrible trauma and helps others to do the same. We actually laughed quite a bit while talking about such a dark topic! Join us for an inspirational and educational conversation.
Biography:
When Amanda finally managed to get away from the man who was trafficking her she was thirty-one years old and didn’t know what she’d gone through even had a name, much less how to deal with the pain of feeling like a broken person, unworthy of love and filled with so much anger. On a freezing cold day in 2018 she saw former trafficked people standing strong and showing their beautiful resiliency on a stage at an anti-trafficking event. At that moment she finally knew what her purpose in life would be.
Since then, Amanda has spoken on a multitude of stages, been interviewed by the Chicago Tribune, sold her art all over the country, been a keynote speaker at international summits, loaned her voice to multiple radio programs, and published over a dozen books. Amanda Blackwood Transcript
[00:00:00] Hello, welcome. Come on in. The water is fine. It's a 110 degrees out here and I'm going swimming tomorrow. I just had my follow up visit with my surgeon for my foot and he says everything looks great and that I am cleared to go swimming.
[00:00:20] And so I'm going over to my neighbor's house Who has a pool. And so that's the exciting news for the week for me. The exciting news about the podcast is that we have a wonderful guest, Amanda Blackwood, and we are going to be talking about human trafficking. This is a very dark topic, so no kids in the room, obviously, but.
[00:00:50] If this is a topic that you're sensitive to prostitution and drug use, that sort of thing. You may [00:01:00] want to skip till next week,
[00:01:02] She is an amazing lady. I'm going to tell you a little more about her. Trafficking is something that I am very passionate about eliminating and helping people to heal from human trafficking. Mending the Soul, as you're familiar with, if you've been listening to the podcast for any length of time, you know that I'm involved with Mending the Soul groups.
[00:01:32] But we also have a Princess Lost, Princess Found, which is for sex trafficked victims. And the curriculum is amazing. That's why I invited... Amanda to come on the show and tell her story.

Deborah by Charles Landelle, 1901
Perhaps you came from a church background that recognized the valuable contributions of the women of the Bible, but for most Christians, they don't ever get to hear about prominent women in the Bible, with the exception of Mary. Deborah, one of the Judges of Israel, is an godly example of a prophetess, military leader, judge, and minstrel that few hear about. We are going to explore the wonderful attributes of Deborah, Barak, and another brave woman, Jael, who turns the tide of the war with King Jabin. Join me for this encouraging and uplifting study!

[00:00:26] Now here is Diana.
[00:00:33] welcome back to the podcast. So glad that you're here. I know that you die hards that listen every week you might have noticed that I missed a week. Well, actually, I, I had it recorded. I just didn't edit it in time to get released on Wednesday. And the reason why is because it was my first week back at [00:01:00] work full time.
[00:01:02] And when I got home and sat on the couch and put my feet up, I was exhausted and I was actually dozing off on the couch. And so it was like that every day last week. And. So forgive me, I did not have the energy to edit the podcast in time. That's how it goes.
[00:01:23] Still recovering from my foot surgery. Today I have been doing some yard work with my regular sneakers on. I'm not wearing the orthopedic sandal that I was wearing for three weeks. I felt pretty good today, energy wise, and my foot was actually doing pretty well.
[00:01:46] It is 110 here, this week.
