For more than 30 years, Arlene Lehmann has been helping women recover from domestic violence and abortion trauma. She has facilitated many support groups for battered women and post-abortive women. She has served on the leadership team for Deeper Still, a ministry that facilitates weekend retreats for women and men with abortion-wounded hearts. She is a member of Operation Outcry and the Silent No More Awareness campaign. Arlene is also a frequent public speaker on these topics and has been a guest on various TV shows and media outlets. She currently resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

[00:00:33] Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. How are you doing today? It has been a crazy week. It is very hot here right now. We Phoenicians like to talk about the weather and how horrible it is in the summer. So right now we're in our tropical storm season.
[00:00:55] It's 110 here, but we have now humidity [00:01:00] about 38%, I'd say. So for us, that's very sticky and very hot. I was out in the garden at 6am doing my chores. I stopped at 8. 30 because I was getting nauseous and dizzy, uh, that is the first stage of heat exhaustion. So, I stopped my chores today. Uh, and it will 120 degrees every summer it does.
[00:01:28] That's, that's normal for us, and why do we live here and put up with that heat? Well, because the rest of the year, it's gorgeous. It's, it's 75 degrees during the winter. And so that's what we live for.

Their life is a simple one - they love their family time, their dogs, and exploring the beautiful Alaskan wilderness. And yet, absolutely none of this should be possible today. For years, Logan did just about everything in his power to destroy his marriage and his life. Logan was a raging sex addict. Porn, affairs, hiring prostitutes, and more had simply become a way of life for Logan. He thought he had no hope. In 2016, God began to change all that. Through Recovery, God transformed Logan’s life and his marriage. Logan and his wife Carrie each now lead Recovery groups, doing what they can to give back by sharing the gifts that God has given.

EP 185: Why Getting Married Doesn’t Cure Sex Addiction: Logan Hufford: Part One

I’m Logan, and I’m no longer in bondage to sexual addiction. Being able to say those words is the 2nd biggest blessing in my life, after salvation through Jesus Christ. I spent years actively destroying my marriage, my life, and the lives of many others. I was an addict to pornography, affairs, and much more. I was, as Paul said, the chief of sinners. And I truly never envisioned a life where I wasn’t constantly mired in sexual depravity. It had become all I knew, in order to live on a daily basis. In 2016, God began to change all that. My life & my marriage now is something I literally could not have fathomed, 8 years ago. And I sincerely believe my mission on this earth is to share with others, how that happened. Because it wasn’t easy, it wasn’t quick, and I didn’t do it on my own.

We are continuing with my exciting conversation with my new friend, Win Charles. She is a person with Cerebral Palsy, and she is an abuse survivor, And you heard some of her story last time. Today on Part 2,
She has been victorious over the abuse and learned to heal from some of the trauma that she has suffered. She's moved from Colorado here to Phoenix, and she's in a special disability community in an independent living condo. We are going to talk about resources for a person with a disability who is being abused. Share this episode with someone who needs it!

Her memoir I, Win is an amazing story of how she remembers her life through the years of having a condition called “CP”. As a competitor in the Kona Iron Man Triathlon, CEO of her own jewelry design company, and motivational speaker, Win Charles truly is an inspiration to many. Today Win Charles tours the country, speaking to schools and institutions to raise awareness about cerebral palsy and living a full life no matter what holds you back. She is also an advocate of veterans across the world.

EP 179: Abusers and People with Disabilities: Win Charles Part One

What would you do if you had a physical or mental disability and you're being abused? You have no resources or support. You're dependent on people to help you and instead they take advantage of you and abuse you. Domestic violence and abuse are horrible even when you don't have any kind of disability.
Just imagine being in a wheelchair or not being able to feed yourself, bathe yourself. Something as simple as being able to verbally express what your needs are, or you're visually or hearing impaired. It can be even a darker place for someone who's experiencing sexual, emotional, financial abuse. I have Wynne Charles on the show today who is going to share her story of having cerebral palsy and being abused by a woman and her advocacy work for the disability community.

I work very hard to bring you something that's worth listening to, so I hope that you're enjoying the study on the Book of Psalms. Now, I said I wasn't going to go in order, but
