"Not only do I have the clinical degrees and professional experience in mental health and trauma, but I've lived a lot of what I've learned and teach firsthand as well. I'm a survivor of narcissistic marital abuse, Christian divorce (right?), a fost-adopt mama, lived nearly a decade overseas, raised Third Culture Kids, been to over 40 countries, geek out on personality-typing/wiring, the brain, expressive arts, and the power of storytelling. I find that a lot of what I speak on brings a new way of understanding self and the world, leading to less shame and healthier relationships. I talk about parenting, faith, responsibility and stewardship (of our own lives and those around us), mindset, writing and publishing, travel, trauma, resilience and post traumatic growth, personality (MBTI, Enneagram, Strengths, 4 Tendencies, etc)... and I'm always happy to discuss why Pepsi is better than Coke :p"

With no memory of his childhood till the age of twelve, John Jarman had no conscious way to overcome the unknown pain in his past. Dr. Bill Senyard Is my guest this week who has this very intriguing app for healing from abuse and trauma! He is an experienced pastor, discipler, church revitalization specialist, lecturer and conference speaker with 25 years as a local church pastor. Episode 71: Is Purity The Same Thing As Virginity? Lydia Vreeman

Lydia Vreeman is my guest this week from the Holy Ship Podcast! She shares her personal story of being sexually assaulted by someone she trusted in the church. We talk about the difference between purity and virginity, and hope for those of us that have already done things we regret. We had such a fun time talking about dating, boundaries and even dinner parties! Come and hang out with us girls for some honest and real conversation about sex.
Lydia is originally from Southwest Michigan but has lived in NYC for the past 4 1/2 years. She is a co-host and creator of the Holy Ship Podcast where she discusses the intersection of women, Christianity, and sexuality in an open and shame-free way. She enjoys public speaking, videography, traveling, and throwing dinner parties.
About Lydia:
I am passionate about speaking on all things Christianity, sexuality, purity culture, my experience with PTSD and SA, and how theology and faith affect our everyday lives.I grew up Christian and left my faith for several years before a series of events happened bringing me back to my faith. This has created a passion in me to help women on their faith journey and discuss difficult topics.
I have a degree in politics, philosophy, and economics with a minor in theology and economics. If you can't tell, I love theology and economics haha. I think both play vital roles in our society and need to be talked about more.
When I am not public speaking or on a podcast, I love volunteering in nyc, leading in several ministries at church, and helping other people develop their passion projects.
I always speak from personal experience, love sharing funny stories about myself relating to these topics, sharing the research I've done, and having fruitful conversations.
